Yeah, she was the actress he saved from the runaway car.
Anyway, the gift which Rachel gives Clark is, wait for it.
…. A Red cape.
Yeah. The one we THINK he will use to FLY.
Anyway, it’s a cool ending. You see, the wind whips the fabric dramatically, and Clark goes back to the house. But you know what?
Clark leaves the cape draped over the fence. Like a flame?I guess that’s something you gotaa figure out.

“What was that all about?”
I asked myself (and others watching the episode at the time) that question, because I kind of wonder why he left it out on the fence.
Any particular reason?
Does he not want it? Possibly regecting any yearning to become a hero?
